March 27, 2020

We hope that you and your families are taking time to enjoy the positive attributes of this never-before-seen time in all of our lives. As promised, all employees should have received a direct deposit today, including wages for the most recent pay period (March 8 - 20, 2020).

As stated in the previous message, services will resume immediately when the school districts permit students to return to school. At that time, all current employees will return to their normal schedules. And per our previously established policies, employees will only  receive compensation for services rendered.  In the meantime, you are welcome to apply for unemployment benefits until you are able to return to work.

Thank you for all that you do on a daily basis for Magic Minds, Inc. In response to government mandates, all child care services are paused until further notice.  All child care services and employee schedules will resume the moment Baltimore City and Howard County school districts reopen for students. Until then, we will enforce our current payroll policy: Employees will receive compensation for services rendered, only.

We recognize that this may present a hardship for our employees, and we want you to know that we share the weight of this unexpected hardship. Magic Minds, Incorporated is a non-profit organization. Essentially this means that all money coming into the organization for goods and services goes back out to expenses, without leaving a "profit" for the business. That said, we do not charge our families when we do not offer services. While payroll is the only expense that directly affects you, we have many other expenses (rent, insurances, BG&E, etc) that are still required, despite the crisis. Thus, we are looking into ways to alleviate the hardship of the organization, as a whole, including that of employee compensation.

On Friday, March 27, 2020, employees will receive compensation for any services rendered during the week of March 9th. Please feel free to check this page as often as possible for updates. We will do our best to keep you informed as we make decisions in the midst of this rapidly changing world crisis.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATES FOR STAFF

May 12, 2020

Dear Current and Potential Employees,

We hope that you and your families have been minimally impacted by the current pandemic. We thank you for remaining connected to Magic Minds and interested in our endeavors. Currently, the state has released mandates about school building usage only through June 22, 2020. These regulations require that we do not host before and aftercare services for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year. It does NOT express any regulations in regards to summer camp. As always, Magic Minds follows the calendar of the school districts where we offer services. Thus, we are unable to make concrete plans for Summer Session 2020 until the school system issues new information for their plans during the summer months. Ideally, and as mentioned before, we plan to open our doors to students when the school systems do so. Until then, all services will remain paused.

Should the doors open at any point for summer camp, we will start with previous employees who have submitted an intent to work for Summer Session 2020. If the number of participants/campers warrants more staff than those who have submitted an intent, we will institute an interview process, of some sort.

If you have filed an unemployment claim and your agent requires information from Magic Minds (as your current employer), please text or email Crystal. Additionally, your ADP account is still open and active for your retrieval of payroll information required for other assistance applications. Finally, we will do our absolute best to keep you informed as often as we deem necessary.

Take care.
